Hall-effect current sensors in SOIC8 packaging

Allegro MicroSystems AG has introduced the actual ACS704 classes of Hall-effect magnetic area sensors in SOIC8 presentation, with the current path integrated into the deal for better awareness and accuracy.

Concentrating on automotive applications amongst others, the 1.7 millimeter high sensors can be bought in 15 amp as well as 5 amp types. They measure bidirectional alternating current or dc gusts by measuring the sector generated by the current flow. They offer a minimum of 800 V of isolation without the use of extra components because simply no electrical connection is present between the current path and sensing enterprise.

The Allegro’s sensors are said to provide a monolithic solution smaller than some other integrated current route Hall-effect sensors that specify comparable sensitivity, also to offer better accuracy, more sensitivity, along with greater creepage and wholesale distances than trace-straddling devices. Accuracy typically is greater than 1.5% at 25 degrees C, the corporation said.

The sensors operate from a single +5 V supply and have a great output ratiometric to the supply voltage. Resistance will be 1.5 milliOhms, which in turn contributes to low energy loss and present drop.
