Melexis’s Position Sensor ICs-The MLX90365

Position Sensor ICs
Melexis has launched the newest product in its placement sensor IC collection, based on the company’s amazing Triaxis technology. The MLX90365 is often a 12-bit resolution device you can use in either linear or rotary position sensing systems. It capabilities fully programmable shift functionality, selectable analog as well as pulse width modulation (PWM) result modes, open/short diagnostics and on-board diagnostics.

The MLX90365 delivers the same situation sensing functionality as recently introduced with the two mold package MLX90364. Your MLX90365 is produced in standard SOIC and TSSOP surface attach packages which require passive protection parts being put on your PCB, while the ‘No PCB’ sibling MLX90364 allows for devices without attachment into a board. The MLX90365 features both under-voltage detection as well as over-voltage protection built in. It is also AEC-Q100 automotive qualified. Moreover the sensor offers successfully passed extreme robustness validation exams, including long exposures to ambient temperatures involving 170°C.

Incorporating Triaxis technology, this device can appraise the properties of a permanent magnet field in all three dimensions. The patented Built-in Magnetic Concentrator (IMC) magnetic film deposited on the surface in the sensor IC together with use of complex algorithms results in reduced indication to noise rate and enable high precision levels being attained. Application areas suitable for MLX90365 are absolute circular position sensing, complete linear position realizing, pedal position realizing, steering wheel position detecting, throttle position realizing and float-level sensing.

The actual MLX90365 is available in SOIC8 and TSSOP16 enclosures and costs $1.97USD in volume quantities.
