Sensirion’s Humidity and Temperature Sensor

Sensirion’s SHTC1 humidity and temperature sensor is actually specifically designed for cellular phones where size is an essential factor. Sensirion has fastidiously followed the maxim “smaller is better” and produced the world’s smallest sensor in its class, calibrating a mere 2x2x0.8 mm. The particular sensor is based on this proven CMOSens Technology, which allows the sensor and the signal processing electronics to be combined on a single silicon chip to obtain small device dimensions. Production is targeted at high volume to allow for low unit costs to be achieved by economy of level. The supply voltage of 1.8 V is also fully in line with the requirements of the target industry. The specificationson the sensor show that the size, power ingestion and price reductions don’t have any impact on performance. It measures relative humidity on the range of 0 in order to 100 %RH with a typical accuracy of ±3 %RH. The actual temperature measuring range is -30°C to +100 °C that has a typical accuracy associated with ±0.3 °C. The warning is fully calibrated, has a digital I2C software, and is suitable for reflow soldering. This will make it compatible with standard industrial mass production procedures for electronic modules.  Isolated Amplifier Sensor
