A thermally enhanced, fully integrated, hall-effect-based, high precision linear current sensor IC from Allegro MicroSystems, LLC, the ACS770 Series, comprises a precision, low-offset linear Hall circuit having a copper conduction path located close to the die. Applied current flowing through this copper conduction path generates a magnetic field that your Hall IC converts right into a proportional voltage.This revolutionary product concentrates with the automotive, industrial and alternative energy markets.

Device accuracy is optimized over the close proximity of the magnetic signal to the Hall transducer.An exact, proportional output voltage is supplied through the low-offset, chopper-stabilized BiCMOS Hall IC,which can be programmed and calibrated for accuracy in the factory. Proprietary digital temperature compensation technology greatly increases the IC‘s accuracy and temperature stability without influencing the prime-bandwidth operation in the analog output.

Higher level immunity to the present conductor dV/dt and stray electric fields, provided by Allegro proprietary integrated shield technology for low output voltage ripple and occasional offset drift in high-side,high profile applications. The production of these devices features a positive slope (>VCC / 2) when an ever-increasing current flows over the primary copper conduction path (from terminal 4 to terminal 5), which is the path used for current sampling. The interior resistance of this conductive path is 100 ohms typical, providing low power loss. The thickness of the copper conductor allows survival in the device at high overcurrent conditions. The terminals of the conductive path are electrically isolated through the signal leads (pins 1 through 3). This allows the ACS770 class of sensor ICs to be utilized in applications requiring electrical isolation without the use of optoisolators or other costly isolation techniques.

The ACS770 Series is lead (Pb) free. All leads are plated with 100 percent matte tin, and there is no lead inside the package. The heavy gauge lead frame is made of oxygen-free copper. The ACS770 Series is available in a 5-pin package (suffix CB).
